Good morning Hawks!

Our staff are preparing for this new adventure this morning, and we are looking forward to ‘seeing’ our students again and getting back to our learning!

Today, we are asking our students to join their class via Google Classroom for 8:50am. Today will be a day for teachers to get connected with all students and to set up communication, routines, and expectations for the week with teaching of whole class and small group lessons. Tuesday will be a ‘normal’ day as students log in and adhere to our school bell times, including recess/lunch times, and follow the usual daily subject schedule. Attendance will be taken each morning and afternoon by your child’s teacher.

JK/K students will engage in 180 minutes of learning per day and students in Grades 1 to 8 will have 225 minutes of learning per day. There will be a combination of synchronous learning (e.g., live instruction, interaction between teacher and students) and asynchronous learning (e.g., students work independently on task after receiving instruction). There may also be activities planned for small groups in breakout rooms.

Your child is not expected to be connected to a device all day for their learning, and teachers understand that students may be sharing a device and may perhaps need to join a meeting later than the expected time.  Teachers will be available for virtual support from 8:50am to 3:20pm.

Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions about their google classroom and expectations for the week, and as always don’t hesitate to call the reach out to the school office if you have additional questions.

More information will be sent out this week as any new information unfolds.  Thank you to all the families who have connected with our staff to show their support!

Stay safe Hawks!
