Good morning Hawks,

This newswire brings you your last Friday Flash for the 2020-2021 school year!

Thank you to all our families for your collaboration, support & kindness as we navigated a year filled with unusual announcements, COVID protocols,  and numerous pivots.  Students and staff will be celebrating a year-end assembly and prayer within our school google classroom on June 24th as a way to come together one last time. We will miss our traditional year-end mass & assembly, but we are all hopeful for in-person, whole-school gatherings in the new school year.

As communicated recently by our Director of Education, June 24th will be the last day of synchronous learning for our students. On June 25th, 28th and 29th, students will be provided with asynchronous activities and our staff will be in the school facilitating visits with students and year-end tasks. Please see the attached letter which explains the process for school visits. June 29th is the last day of asynch school for the 2020-21 school year.

Family Letter k-8 (2)

We will be celebrating our “Great Eights” on Thursday, June 24th from 5pm-6pm at school, followed by a virtual celebration at 6pm at home. They have worked so hard this year and demonstrated such resilience. Congratulations on your graduation, Grade 8s!  Kindly see the Grad letter with updates attached:

Parent Grad Letter

We bid farewell to the following staff members: Erin Stevens, Rachel O’Neill, Kaitlan Gould, Meagan Yake, and Julia Rees. Thank you for your dedication to our students at Monsignor Haller! We will miss you!

I am leaving at the end of June for St. Brigid Catholic School, and a huge welcome goes out to Mrs. Cathy Kuntz landing in the Hawk’s next in September! Any additional staffing changes will be announced in September.

School News:

We would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of many individuals who volunteered their time and talents to contribute to the success of the Catholic School Advisory Council (CSAC). Especially this year with COVID-19 restrictions, we had many challenges but we were able to rise above them and still create some new opportunities for our school.

They say it takes a community to raise a child and this came through loud and clear with the commitment demonstrated by our whole school community.  Special thanks are due to the following members of the 2021 – 2022 school council:

Ashley C., Jesse V., Amanda G., Amy P., Brianna S.. Kathy M., Erin S., Catherine B., Ashley N.

Thank you!

Report Cards:

Term Two report cards will be available for pick up on Monday June 28th during the scheduled student visits.

Please note that the use of an “I” in place of a grade or mark, in some cases, may be been reported on your child’s report card.  An “I” means “Insufficient Evidence” and teachers may have used an “I” in cases during remote learning where a student was unable to submit or produce enough assignments where the teacher was confident on assessing the knowledge, thinking, application or communication in a certain subject area.  An “I” is used for unusual circumstances (such as a pandemic) and does not mean “incomplete” or any other definition that would cause harm to a child’s academic success this term.

Term Two report cards include the assessment and evidence of learning collected and documented during this remote learning time and during the in class learning from February – June 2021.
