As the number of cases of COVID-19 continue to rise (once again), it is very important that we all do our part to ensure one another’s personal health and safety. Families and staff are reminded to continue completing a self-assessment each day prior to attending school / work and follow the prompts provided. Since isolation guidelines evolve regularly, reading fully the subsequent direction for siblings and others in the family is essential.

When you complete the provincial screener and enter that your child has a symptom of COVID-19  https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/, it will give you an “X” , and then will provide next steps.

Currently, two of those next steps from the province that parents/guardians might be missing are listed below:

1) If your isolation period is 5 days, from days 6 to 10:(for the child who has COVID-19 symptoms), you are directed to:

  • wear a well-fitted mask in all public settings (including school and child care)
  • avoid activities where you need to take off your mask (for example, playing a wind instrument in music class or removing your mask for sports)

2) Guidance for household members for 10 days after their last exposure to the person with COVID-19 symptoms: if someone else in your household has COVID-19 symptoms, you are directed to:

  • wear a well-fitted mask in all public settings (including school and child care)
  • avoid activities where they need to take off their mask (for example, playing a wind instrument in music class or removing their mask for sports).

Although not required, masking is encouraged.

Please know that we have additional rapid antigen tests available for families who have used up your previous allotment. If you are in need of additional tests, please email Ashley.Neves@wcdsb.ca and we will send a kit home with your child(ren).

Thank you for your continued care and diligence in effort to keep everyone safe!
