Waterloo Catholic District School Board Schools Closed Friday, December 23 due to Weather

major winter storm is expected to reach Waterloo Region overnight tonight and is expected to cause dangerous driving conditions on Friday and over the weekend.

Based on this forecast – and with the safety of all in mind – the WCDSB in collaboration with the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) and Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region (STSWR), has made the proactive decision to cancel ALL student transportation and close ALL schools and school board administrative sites tomorrow, Friday, December 23, 2022.

All before and after school programs and childcare centres co-located in schools will also be closed.

And all programs and services offered by St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres are cancelled and St. Louis sites will be closed.

We pray that everyone is able to remain safe during the storm, and we wish one and all a happy and blessed Christmas break.

We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, January 9, 2023.

A Message from Father Luke

This is my first Christmas with you. I pray that the Feast of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus will bring us many blessings in our personal, family, and professional lives. May the Baby Jesus to whom we turn with our love keep us safe and grant us peace. It is my hope that our Parish Church, which is the home of the Blessed Sacrament, Saint Brigid, Mar Oraha Chaldean Communities and the group of our Catholic Schools will become to us an EVERYDAY BETHLEHEM in this New Year, a sacred place where we can meet the Living Lord, Emanuel – “God with us” and embrace one another.

Let the Nativity Star shine for us ad guide all those who seek the meaning in life and true faith. May we remain faithful to our faith obligations, stay vigilant, prayerful, and sensitive to the needs of others. May every Sunday Holy Mass, every Sacrament we receive here be for us like a Christmas, a source of the community joy and nourishment for our daily journey.

“Come to Bethlehem and see Him whose birth the angels sing …”

(Angels We Have Heard On High, 1862)

Have a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year
