Friday Flash…Welcome Back!

School News:

Welcome to Monsignor Haller Catholic Elementary School for the 2019-2020 school year!

Whether your child is returning to Monsignor Haller or attending for the first time, we are excited that you will be part of the Haller family community.

Our goal is to create a Christ-centred, positive, encouraging and stimulating learning environment for our students so that each child will have the opportunity to learn, experience and grow to his or her potential.

We believe that to achieve the most fulfilling and rewarding education for your child, we must work together as a team. Children’s attitudes, values, and self-concepts are molded at home and at school; therefore, a positive and mutually supportive home/school partnership is essential to encourage learning, skill development, self-discipline, responsibility, respect for self, others and the environment, appropriate values and a sense of self-worth.

We look forward to your continued support throughout the year.

First Day of School:

A reminder that all students in grades 1-8 will meet on the back yard blacktop on the first day of school.  Look for teacher signs and we will direct you to your new teacher.

Welcome to our families in JK who will meet their new school/teacher for a visit!

Lastly, we look forward to having our SK’s return to school on Wednesday September 4th!

School Start Up Paperwork:

Many forms have been posted on SchoolCash Online.  Some will come home on paper from your child’s teacher.  We will support families in returning the correct forms to the correct person this upcoming week!

New this year:  your child will receive a school agenda once payment has been received.  Kindly use SchoolCash Online for this transaction.  Agendas will be available for purchase at our Welcome Back to School evening on September 10th.

Please fill out the paperwork promptly your child’s complete registration.

Most importantly are:

-the verification forms which indicate updated addresses, contact names and phone numbers

-consent for team/clubs/intramurals tryouts and walking to church form

-Please sign up for SchoolCash Online if you have not done so already.  We have moved to cashless transactions this year (including PIZZA DAYS).  NO cash will be accepted.

In addition, it is extremely important for the office to be aware of documented medical concerns, custody updates or other information to ensure a successful day for your child.  Call the office anytime and we would be happy to help you.

Catholic Update

Blessed Sacrament Parish Update:

Mrs. Koehler has retired from Blessed Sacrament Church.  At this time we do not have any information about a school liaison.  Your child’s teacher and the office will help communicate information right now, concerning Sacramental Preparation (grade 2: First Reconciliation & Holy Communion; Grade 7: Confirmation)

Parents must have their child registered for the appropriate Sacrament.  Feel free to call us or the church for more information.

Families who have expressed an interest in the Catholic faith as they are attending Monsignor Haller Catholic School must call the school for updates regarding baptism, First Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation.

As a Catholic School community we look forward to continuing out celebration of our faith in monthly liturgies, daily prayer several times a day and Christian Meditation each afternoon.

Greetings Hawks!

Summer Greetings!

Welcome Back Hawks! We sincerely hope that all our families have had a wonderful summer creating many new memories. We cannot wait to hear about your adventures. Our Haller Staff have been busy preparing for the upcoming school year and are looking forward to another fabulous year celebrating our amazing students. Our office officially opens on Monday, August 26th.

We invite all families back on the first day of school, Tuesday September 3rd, where we will meet on the backyard blacktop area. All students in grades 1-8 are asked to locate their teacher who will be identifying themselves with their grade level with signs. Our teachers will take attendance and ensure they have all their students before entering the school. This allows our students to become settled quickly and for staff to begin framing their positive classroom communities. (In the case of rain on our first day, we will move into the gymnasium. Parents are welcome to come onto the yard on our first day, yet it is not necessary as all staff will be present.)

Our Junior Kindergarten students will follow their staggered entry as previously directed. All Senior Kindergarten students have a start date of Wednesday, September 4th.

Parents are asked to complete all start up information through our SchoolCash Online portal. Paper copies of the student verification forms will be sent home on the first day and are needed to be returned promptly for the office to update your child’s information. We truly appreciate your assistance with this and helping our school move away from paper and towards our electronic organization. Thank you for your co-operation with this.   ALL money transactions will be moving to this online platform this school year including pizza lunch and field trips.  If you require support signing up, please let the office know.  For your convenience, the system will automatically transfer your child to St. Mary’s High School when they move on to grade 9, where all paperwork and fees will be required to be completed on SchoolCash Online.

With the beginning of a new school year, also comes change with staffing. This year, we are fortunate to welcome many new members to the Haller team in classrooms where teachers are on maternity leave. We celebrate this renewed energy and positivity with our new additions!

Moving forward into the school year, informative posts/news items will be sent out through Newswire. Our “Friday Flash” updates you will receive each week are meant to provide you with a weekly glance at what to expect in the week ahead so you have the weekend to prepare and/or support your child with any special events, field trips etc.  Additionally, we will send out occasional tweets and updates to share any important occurrences to keep our community informed (e.g., late buses, fundraising).  See our school website for our twitter feed and newswire sign ups.  It is our continued goal to have our families participate in our celebrations and feel a part of our school community!

Looking forward to another productive and fun filled year!

God bless,

Tanya Hunter

Principal
