Friday Flash…a look ahead

Enrolment and Class Structures:

The staff at Monsignor Haller spend countless hours on structuring the next year’s classes; considering many factors for student success. such as male to female ratio, academic, social and behavioural needs.  Our staff take great care to ensure there is a balance of needs in each classroom. Thank you for trusting us to make the right decision for your child by respecting our professional placements.

Please be advised that the school board will be reviewing our class sizes and enrolment patterns in the first week of September.  There is always the possibility that we open a new classroom (even into late September) which could result in students moving to different classrooms based on the school board’s decision/communication.  We will let you know in September if this is going to happen.

Thank you for your support!

Safe Departure Expectations:

Please remind your child that if she/he misses the bus after school to stay at the school and report to the main office. The school secretary or Principal will call the parent to notify you that your child will not be getting off the school bus and to make arrangements for a pick up. child home.

Schoolcash Online:

All money transactions will be posted online next year.  The school board has moved away from taking most/all cash, which means ALL field trips, hot lunch (pizza), fundraising etc. will  move to the online platform.  Please call Mrs. Neves if you have not set up your account yet, and she can assist you.

Grade 8 student accounts will automatically carry on with them to St.  Mary’s, who will have their high school registration information posted there.

Medication:

If you have medication at the school for your child, please call the school for pick up.

Bus Information: Kindergarten

This year, STSWR is updating how we communicate with new kindergarten students and their families. The strategy is to give schools the tools they need to inform new families about transportation to school whether they use the bus or walk. By distributing this information to parents we hope to make riding or walking to school as easy as possible.

This information is being shared by your school board through school websites and social media accounts.  This information has/will also be shared at all Welcome to Kindergarten events at all schools and was sent via email to all kindergarten educators and administrators last month.  Please distribute the kindergarten brochure and information sheet to your school community through school websites/newswire and your new kindergarten family email list (as appropriate).

We have included:

  1. Kindergarten brochure
    • This brochure includes information on new rider processes such as:
      • Checking bus eligibility
      • First Rider program
      • Receiving kindergarten tags
      • Subscribing for delay and cancellation alerts
      • Safety tips and rider expectations.
  2. Kindergarten Riders / Kindergarten Walkers Information Sheet
    • This handout briefly overviews bus/walking related information such as:
      • Registration and eligibility
      • Opting out of busing
      • The release of transportation information for September
      • Dates for the First Rider program
      • Information and resources for walking students

Transportation details for the 2019 – 2020 school year will be available on Monday, August 19, 2019.

Parents can login and view your child’s transportation details by going to www.stswr.ca and following these easy steps:

Grade 7 Camp Brebeuf!

Hi Parents!

Just a reminder that students will be returning from Camp Brebeuf today at about 4:45pm. The bus is picking them up at 4pm in Guelph so they are able to enjoy a FULL day of activities today!

If you are picking your child up, please arrive at the school for 4:45-5:00pm.  The kids had an awesome time yesterday doing high ropes, hiking, rock climbing and singing songs around a camp fire.  Warning: some kids shared that they did not get much sleep last night!  They will be very tired tonight:)

See you later this afternoon!
